“Comedy is the most palliative way to make a point. People are more willing to listen if they can laugh.”
— Judy Gold
Of course you want to help and teach your fellow humans. But there’s one thing that has to happen first before you can help anyone…
They have to listen to you.
Know how to do that? I’ll give you one guess.
That’s right, be entertaining.
Johnny Carson once said to compare his salary to the salary of the President of Harvard University to see whether America valued entertainment or education more. He had a valid point.
You don’t have to be as funny or as talented as Johnny Carson. You just have to be entertaining. Say something funny, tell a good story, be amusing in some way. Leave the clown makeup and juggling balls at home. You won’t need them.
Build entertainment into your communications with your crowd. They’ll like you for it. They’ll sit up and pay attention. And all that great information you’ve got to teach? They’ll actually consume it.
